Hundreds of children and adults from underserved areas of El Paso have received free dental care through the Marathon Dental Patient Fund, which MPC established at the Hunt School of Dental Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso. -
Refinery employee volunteers laid 10,000 square feet of grass sod along with planting seven trees and 40 shrubs as part of a broader investment by MPC to help the city of El Paso finish development of Marina Rios Park in the San Juan neighborhood. -
Representatives of U.S. and Mexican governmental agencies marked the 2023 installation of a new air monitoring station that MPC funded through a $100,000 grant to strengthen air quality data collection across El Paso; Juárez, Mexico; and parts of Doña Ana County, New Mexico. -
Since 2021, the El Paso refinery has conducted drive-through food distributions in a refinery parking lot on the last Friday of every month in collaboration with the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank. -
About 20 employee volunteers unload, sort and carry food to lines of vehicles, dispensing supplies to hundreds of families each month. -
In addition to ongoing food distributions at the site, the refinery provides annual grants to the food bank and has assisted the organization with its yearly fundraising events. -
In 2024, the El Paso refinery entered its third year of providing financial and employee volunteer support to Rebuilding Together El Paso, a nonprofit that rehabilitates the homes of low-income residents through safety and health-related repairs and improvements. -
The inaugural El Paso Science Festival in 2024, which had more than 10,000 attendees, was made possible, in part, by a $20,000 grant from MPC and involved demonstrations by refinery employee volunteers that highlighted scientific concepts and practices from the refining industry. -
During an afternoon volunteer effort, employees from the refinery’s Products Control Department packed 300 food bags for homeless individuals and other people in need at the Kelly Center for Hunger Relief. -
Our refinery presented a $20,000 grant to the city of El Paso, allowing implementation of the Ability Fellows Program in 2024 in cooperation with the Children’s Disabilities Information Coalition, a local nonprofit. -
MPC established an alliance with Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacifico (ARCO Mexican Pacific League) to support the Ligas Pequeñas de Beisbol (Little League Baseball of Mexico) through the Lanzadores Del Futuro program. Funding from the program provides sports scholarships for low-income players, improvements to baseball fields and new sports equipment. -
Lanzadores Del Futuro is part of a larger marketing partnership with the professional baseball league of Mexico. The program sponsors baseball clinics across Mexico that are run by Mexico Hall of Fame players such as Oscar Villarreal, a former Major League Baseball player.

- El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank food distribution is held at the refinery on the last Tuesday of every month.
Community Advisory Panel
The El Paso refinery Community Advisory Panel (CAP) was created in 2010. It is an independent advisory group comprised of residents from the areas surrounding the refinery who serve as an interface between the management of the El Paso refinery and the local communities. The CAP meets monthly and works with MPC leaders to learn about the refinery’s operations and plans, while communicating to MPC questions and concerns from the local communities.
MPC is committed to doing business in a way that facilitates community involvement, two-way communication and mutual respect. While the CAP will not be asked to approve or reject any actions taken by MPC, the CAP is an important advisory group and MPC actively responds to their recommendations and concerns.
