For decades, Marathon Petroleum's operations in Canton, Ohio, including the refinery, asphalt terminal, light product terminal and crude offloading facility, have partnered with United Way of Greater Stark County to help strengthen the local community. This spring, that long-standing commitment was recognized when Marathon received the organization's 2026 Red Feather Award.

The Red Feather Award recognizes organizations that demonstrate courage, compassion and generosity through service to the community.

Over the past 10 years, Marathon has contributed nearly $2 million to United Way of Greater Stark County and its programs, helping children, families and neighbors across Stark and Carroll counties.

That impact is amplified by team members and their families from Marathon’s Canton operations who volunteer throughout the year. Their efforts benefit countless local students through back-to-school and end-of-year celebrations, holiday activities, educational programming and test preparation.

That same spirit extends across Marathon’s Canton operations. Andy Schulze, Terminal Operations Area Manager, said the close collaboration between the refinery and terminal teams strengthens Marathon’s collective impact.
