During a recent team summit at Marathon Petroleum’s San Antonio office, the Audit Assurance & Advisory Services team from Findlay, Ohio, Houston, Denver and San Antonio spent an afternoon volunteering to support ChildSafe. ChildSafe is a San Antonio-based nonprofit that aims to restore dignity, hope and trust to children traumatized by abuse and neglect.

Over the course of three hours, the team dispersed across ChildSafe’s campus to perform a variety of tasks. Some of the tasks included weeding, mulching, preparing files for shredding, reorganizing onsite supplies where beneficiaries go to “shop” for essentials like clothing and shoes, and packing for an upcoming camping event the facility was hosting.

“Any time we can get out in our communities where we work and live is a win-win,” said Judy Feldmeier, Advanced Senior IT Auditor for Marathon Petroleum. “There is something so fulfilling about giving and doing it as a team. The director of ChildSafe was blown away by how much work was done by our team in such a short amount of time.”

The group had 73 volunteers participate in this event who logged a combined 219 hours of volunteer time. Through Marathon Petroleum’s volunteer program, the team earned an additional $4,500 grant for ChildSafe.
