Employees from Marathon Petroleum’s Dickinson, North Dakota, renewable diesel facility recently traded their usual routines for aprons and pancake griddles, volunteering at the Benedictine Living Community.

During a special breakfast event for residents, employees cooked and served pancakes while spending the morning sharing stories and conversation with those in attendance.

“This really was such a rewarding experience for us, getting to spend time with these residents while also being part of a fun, uplifting morning for them,” said Nick Bear, Area Team Manager at the Dickinson renewable diesel facility. “Sometimes it’s the simple moments, sitting down, sharing stories and making someone smile, that can make the biggest impact.”

The event, held during Nursing Home Week, brought together volunteers from several local companies in support of Benedictine Living Community residents. 

“I think what made this so special was the collaboration between these local companies.

They not only agreed to support us and our residents in such a meaningful way, but they did it together,” said Bonnie Goldsberry, Wellness Director at Benedictine Living Community, who helped coordinate the event. “It meant so much to our residents, who couldn’t stop talking about the visit.”
