Employees at Marathon Petroleum’s Anacortes refinery once again came together to help local children have access to food when school meals aren’t available.
Through the 2026 Stuff the Bus Food and Funds Drive, employees, contractors, business partners and community supporters raised more than $20,000 and collected 1,400 pounds of food for Helping Hands Food Bank to help feed children and families in the community.
“This effort shows what can happen when our employees and community partners come together for local kids,” said Tara Havard, senior commercial sourcing advisor at the Anacortes refinery. “Every donation helps provide students with the nourishment they need to learn, grow and succeed.”
Helping Hands is dedicated to ensuring that the youth in our community have access to the food they need to thrive. They provide supplemental meal kits and, at their Sedro-Woolley distributions, kids can pick out their own snacks and meals in the Kids Kove.
The campaign continues the refinery’s support of Helping Hands Food Bank while giving employees and community partners an opportunity to make a difference close to home.
