Request Inspection

Marathon Petroleum SIRE Inspection Requirements
Global Marine requires vessels to participate in the Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) Ship Inspection Report Program (SIRE) to be considered for business with MPC. MPC requires tankers and barges to have a SIRE inspection every six months, while tug inspection requirements vary based on purpose and location. Marine Assurance reviews SIRE inspections as part of the vessel-vetting clearance process.
As a member and approved submitting company of OCIMF, Marathon Petroleum Co LP has permission to commission SIRE inspections. We employ several CAT 1 (ships) and CAT 3 (tugs and barges) SIRE-accredited inspectors, which we refer to as CORE inspectors. These Global Marine CORE inspectors are the first choice; however, to cover all our requirements, we also utilize third-party, SIRE-accredited contractors located around the world.
Requesting a Marathon Petroleum Co LP SIRE Inspection
Only a Technical Operator registered with OCIMF’s SIRE program can request a Submitting Company to commission a SIRE inspection of a vessel.
The OCIMF SIRE Inspection Request Platform must be used to request a Marathon Petroleum Co LP SIRE inspection. Technical Operators should select Marathon Petroleum Co LP as their first choice when requesting an inspection. Please contact OCIMF at [email protected] to begin using the SIRE Inspection Request Platform.
