- The Greater North Dakota Chamber has recognized its 2025 list of Women You Need to Know in North Dakota business.
- The list includes 14 professionals whose achievements inside and outside their organizations have helped strengthen the state’s industries and communities.
- Among the honorees is Marathon Petroleum’s DeEll Jordre who was selected, in part, for her extensive involvement with nonprofit organizations.
DeEll Jordre believes that serving others doesn’t have to be hard.
“It’s the little things: an encouraging note left on a desk or sent in a text message; holding a door for someone; asking someone how they are doing,” Jordre said. “Everyone faces challenges, and sometimes the smallest gestures leave the greatest impact.”
This concept motivates Jordre to go well beyond “the little things” and helped lead to her inclusion on the Greater North Dakota Chamber's (GNDC) 2025 list of the Women You Need to Know in North Dakota business. The Bismarck-based GNDC selected the 14 professionals with input from past honorees and GNDC members, which include small businesses, publicly traded corporations, trade associations and local chambers of commerce.
“The achievements of the honorees, both inside and outside their organizations, inspire others and contribute to the strength and growth of our industries and communities,” said GNDC Vice President, Strategic Engagement, Amanda Remynse.
“We can all point to someone else who helped us become who we are today, so it’s up to us to pay it forward.”
Jordre is Marathon Petroleum Corporation’s (MPC) lead human resources business partner for the Mandan refinery and Dickinson renewable diesel facility. She has continuously supported the Dickinson facility since its construction in 2014 as a petroleum refinery, including its 2020 conversion to produce renewable diesel. Beyond her formal duties, she assists with employee volunteer efforts and serves on the local giving committee to identify opportunities to help area nonprofit organizations that are working to meet local needs.
Outside MPC, Jordre holds leadership and supporting roles at several nonprofits. Among them are the Dickinson Area Community Foundation, the Stark-Billings County 4-H Council and Camp ReCreation, a summer camp for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities where her mother was program director while Jordre was growing up.
“Over the years at Camp ReCreation, I’ve witnessed incredible transformations, not only in the campers, but in the volunteers,” Jordre said. “In just one week, it has a way of opening hearts, building bridges of understanding, and reminding us that everyone—regardless of ability—is a gift with so much to offer.”
Joshua Dorfmueller, Vice President of Refining responsible for the Mandan refinery and the Dickinson renewable diesel facility, explained the significance of Jordre’s varied experiences.
“DeEll is an outstanding ambassador for our industry in this region,” Dorfmueller said. “Her history with MPC gives her a unique perspective, providing a deep understanding of both our business and opportunities for the company to benefit the communities where we operate.”
Jordre called the recognition from GNDC “humbling,” crediting her family, colleagues and employer for putting her in position to serve others.
“I am grateful to work for a company that believes in the value of giving back,” Jordre said. “I hope to encourage others to reflect on the fact that we can all point to someone else who helped us become who we are today, so it’s up to us to pay it forward.”
