El Paso, FoundationMarathon Petroleum Corp.’s (MPC) level of community investment in El Paso, Texas, has earned dual honors from the United Way of El Paso County, including a second consecutive Champion Award for inspiring what the United Way chapter called “an overwhelming enthusiasm” for its mission.
The United Way of El Paso gives the Champion Award to only one individual or organization each year. The presentation to MPC at the annual Celebration of Giving luncheon highlighted the company’s leadership in organizing the second annual Marathon Petroleum – United Way Golf Tournament that raised more than $90,000 for the local chapter.
During the same event, MPC also received the Arco de Oro Award for the most recent workplace giving campaign at its El Paso refinery. This campaign generated nearly $135,000 in contributions, bringing nine new members into the United Way Leadership Society of donors.
The refinery’s support of the United Way of El Paso County and the broader El Paso community goes beyond monetary donations. Employees also volunteer their time throughout the year to support United Way and other initiatives in the community as part of our broader MPC Cares program.
