Through the Marathon First Responder Grant Program, the Elk City Police Department in Oklahoma received support from MPLX, a Marathon Petroleum affiliate, to purchase thermal vision monoculars that will enhance officers’ ability to conduct investigations in low-light conditions.
The handheld devices will support both the patrol and detective divisions, helping officers locate suspects and investigate burglaries involving oilfield vehicles and trailers, which are often stored in remote or dimly lit areas. Compact enough to be carried in a pocket, the monoculars allow officers to quickly deploy the technology when responding to incidents.
"MPLX is proud to support the departments that help keep our communities safe," said MPLX Senior Environmental Specialist Jeremy Cantrell. "We appreciate the Elk City Police Department's commitment to protecting our community and are honored to provide resources that can assist them in their work."
The donation reflects MPLX's ongoing commitment to strengthening the communities where employees live and work by supporting local first responders and public safety initiatives.
