Award, CareersMarathon Petroleum (MPC) was one of the companies recognized on the Disability Equality Index ®, a comprehensive benchmarking tool for Fortune 1000-scope companies to measure disability workplace inclusion.
Businesses scoring 80 or higher are recognized as a “Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion.” This was MPC’s first year participating in the index – we scored 80 and were one of 542 companies recognized in 2024.
“MPC is proud to be named as a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion,” said Greg Floerke, MPC ADAPT Disability Employee Network Executive Sponsor and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of MPLX. “This recognition supports our commitment to continue creating an inclusive culture that supports all of our employees, including those with disabilities and their families.”
In 2024, our ADAPT Disability Employee Network hosted events and activities to support our employees who have a disability or serve as a caregiver to a family member with a disability.
- In celebration of Disability Awareness Month in March, members of ADAPT hosted a panel featuring MPC employees who shared their stories on being parents to children with disabilities.
- In July, our employees participated in an event to celebrate the 34th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and to learn more about ADAPT.
- Over the summer, our employees attended Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run events in Ohio, Illinois and Southern California, cheering on athletes and first responders as they participated in the interstate relays.
“We’re excited to be named as a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion. I am proud of the members of our ADAPT Disability Employee Network for their collaboration in educating our workforce on the experiences of those with disabilities and supporting an inclusive environment where we can build on each other’s unique talents to make our company stronger,” said David Heppner, MPC ADAPT Executive Sponsor and Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice President of Business Development.
