On June 1, employees and their families came together to participate in the "Steps for VETS – Run, Walk, Roll," U.S. VETS' annual fundraiser.
"We are proud to stand alongside U.S. VETS in their mission to end veteran homelessness," said Josh Valdez, Area Team Leader at the Los Angeles refinery. "Our involvement in Steps for Vets underscores our belief in providing real support to those who have served our country."
Over the years, Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) has supported the nonprofit through annual grants helping military veterans and their families obtain housing, counseling, career development and comprehensive assistance.
"Marathon's partnership and investment have been instrumental in advancing our mission year after year, and we deeply appreciate their commitment to those who have served our country.”

Employees from Marathon Pipe Line, a component of MPC’s midstream segment, also took part in this year’s event.
"Supporting veterans is imperative, recognizing their incredible sacrifices for our nation," said Patrick Kelly, LA Basin Area Manager for Marathon Pipe Line. "Honoring their service and sacrifice is the least we can do, and we’re proud to contribute in any way we can."
Many of the same members from the refinery’s Veterans employee network chapter, along with family and friends, honored those who served in the military just prior to Memorial Day by placing United States flags on gravesites bearing military insignia at Forest Lawn in Cypress.
