We celebrated Earth Day 2025 with a variety of activities and community investments across many of our locations across the country. From tree planting and educational events to significant donations for environmental projects, Marathon Petroleum's focus on sustainability and community engagement shines through.
Cadiz, Ohio

Employees from the Cadiz area completed an Earth Day clean-up project at Piedmont Lake, which is part of the Muskingum Watershed Conversancy District.
Denver, Colorado

Employees at our Denver office hosted an Earth Day Fair. The team handed out succulents to employees and shared information about sustainable landscapes. Electronics recycling drop-off stations were also available to employees during the month of April.
Findlay, Ohio

Employees at our Findlay campus distributed 200 succulents and 225 seedlings and sustainable giveaways. Crews collected 19 TVs and monitors, and 350 pounds of other electronics during the e-waste collection. Employees also saved 114 paper cups during the Bring Your Own Cup event in the cafe.
Reader, West Virginia

Employees from the MPLX Mobley plant in West Virginia cleaned up the playground and field of a nearby school in honor of Earth Day. The freshly cared for field played host to a community festival the following weekend, which MPLX also sponsored.
Robinson, Illinois

Robinson refinery employees volunteered at Meserve Cabin with students from Washington Elementary School. It was a full day of activities, which included a nature trail walk, kite flying, and learning about types of waste and how to dispose of them properly.
San Antonio, Texas
Employees at our San Antonio office participated in an Earth Day Fair and heard from campus partners about sustainable business initiatives. Some participants received succulents and giveaway items made from recycled materials. Employees participated in a Bring Your Own Cup challenge at our campus in an effort to save paper cups. Electronics and household goods recycling drop-off stations were also available to all campus employees during the month of April.
Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico
The Pueblo of Santa Ana tribe annually marks Earth Day, and this year’s event took on even greater significance. Community members gathered with MPLX representatives to celebrate the restoration of a pond and natural area along with nearby wetlands. MPLX funded the project as part of its sustainability partnership with the tribe.
Tampa, Florida
Employees from both of our Tampa terminals participated in the Great Port Cleanup for the fourth consecutive year. Sponsored by Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful and Port Tampa Bay, the event is held annually in conjunction with Earth Day.
MPC employees joined over 1,400 other volunteers to remove more than 113,000 pounds of debris across 33 sites in and around Port Tampa Bay. Event volunteers discovered a wide range of items, including propane tanks, gas cans, shopping carts, furniture, shoes, clothing and beach chairs.
By clearing the debris, they helped support the mission of trash-free waters in Tampa Bay.
Texas City, Texas
The Marathon Wildlife Habitat Team, made up of employees from the Galveston Bay refinery in Texas City, recently rolled up their sleeves to support the Galveston County Master Gardeners at Serenity Gardens. Volunteers helped make a section of the garden handicap accessible. Serenity Gardens is part of the larger Discovery Garden, a 4-acre demonstration site showcasing best practices in home horticulture maintained by the Galveston County Master Gardener Association.
Zelienople, Pennsylvania
The team from our MPLX Bluestone Facility in Pennsylvania completed an Earth Day project at the Zelienople Community Park. They donated mulch and garden tools and spent time working on the garden beds and landscape. This is the third year that employees volunteered at the park for Earth Day.
