Marathon employees presented checks to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, Kerosene Lamp Foundation, and Diablo Valley College Foundation during the event.

“We’re proud to lead an event that brings our team and community together for a meaningful cause,” said Chris Staats, Vice President of Refining at the Martinez Renewables facility. “This tournament is more than just a day of sport – it’s a reflection of our commitment to supporting local organizations that make a real difference. It’s an honor to contribute to the incredible work of our community partners.”

The Food Bank of Contra Costa Foundation collected donations from participants at the charity event and received $170,000 that will be used to support those in need. That’s enough to provide 340,000 meals for neighbors facing hunger.

“Over the past few months, we’ve seen some disruptions to government funding that supports food banks and the neighbors we serve,” said Caitlin Sly, CEO of the Food Bank of Contra Costa Foundation. “And it looks like more cuts might be coming. That’s why the support from Marathon means so much. It’s helping us fill those funding gaps and provide two meals for every dollar raised.”
