Marathon Pledges Up to $550,000 to Support Ohio Flood Victims

As recently announced, Marathon has pledged immediate support of the American Red Cross and its efforts to assist North Central Ohio counties devastated by the flood. Marathon has already donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross Hancock County Flood & Disaster Relief Fund and will further match contributions made by employees, annuitants, contractors, Marathon Brand dealers, jobbers, wholesale customers and business partners to the American Red Cross on a dollar-for-dollar basis up to $250,000 for contributions made by September 30, 2007. The donation will be designated to the North Central Ohio Flood Fund #681-08 which includes Allen, Crawford, Hancock, Hardin, Putnam, Richland, Seneca, and Wyandot. With strong participation from eligible matching gift participants, the total contribution from the Company and individuals could reach $550,000.

1. Online Donation Instructions for the North Central Ohio Flood Fund
   We have established a web site for contributions by credit card to the American Red Cross North Central Ohio Relief Fund. To donate, access the donation site via the following link: http://american.redcross.org/marathon-emp. You will be prompted to enter in the gift amount, contact and credit card information.
    
   
2. Instructions for Donations Made by Check
   If you prefer to contribute via check to the American Red Cross, please send your check to the address below made payable to The American Red Cross. In the memo field of the check, please note that the donation is for the North Central Ohio Flood Fund #681-08.
    
   
3. Instructions for Prior Donations
   If you have already contributed to another emergency relief organization prior to September 1, 2007 for the flood relief efforts, Marathon will make a matching gift contribution to the American Red Cross. However, you must complete a matching gift form for the Red Cross to receive the Company matching funds.
