Greetings Race Fans!
Hey Race Fans! This weekend will celebrate a memorable day in NASCAR history and Marathon will have a very special part in the entire day. On July 12th, 1958, Richard "The King" Petty drove a '57 Oldsmobile in his first NASCAR sanctioned event in Columbia, SC.
This weekend's race at Chicagoland Speedway will be packed with special activities highlighting "The King" and his incredible impact on Motorsports. The weekend will also feature special edition #43 and #45 Petty Enterprises Dodge's. Terry Labonte will be driving the #45 Richard Petty 50th Anniversary/Marathon American Spirit Motor Oil Dodge. Richard's son, Kyle, will be in the booth as an announcer for TNT.
Marathon's special feature on the hood of the Petty-blue King's Anniversary #45 Petty Enterprises Dodge, as well as Terry Labonte's two Top-20 finishes in the past month, have us very excited for this weekend's race. Don't miss it! The SPEED channel will feature specials on Richard "The King" Petty and his impact on NASCAR, all weekend long. The start of a big week of exposure for us began Tuesday night when NASCAR Now on ESPN was at the Petty Enterprises shop and prominently featured the entire #45 crew in their Marathon crew shirts.
The race will be broadcast this Saturday evening at 7pm on TNT. Don't miss Marathon's special part in this exciting day in NASCAR history!
Let's go racing!

Quotes from Terry Labonte:
I’m really honored to be a part of the celebration going on this weekend in Chicago for Richard Petty’s 50th Anniversary. I started racing in the Cup Series in 1978 when ‘The King’ was still a pretty dominant driver. When I started out he was still the guy to beat, the guy that all the other drivers looked up to.
