Greetings Race Fans!
Greetings Race Fans! It's been too long since I last wrote, but there are so many things in the works and we've been waiting to make some announcements. So, here they are! First, make sure to watch the All-Star Challenge this weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway on May 17th. It's not a points race, but it will feature Chad McCumbee driving the #49 Marathon Dodge. You may think that the number 49 can not be right, but it is! Petty Enterprises will be featuring a third car at the All-Star challenge this year. We really hope that this third car is a sign of what's to come for Petty Enterprises, so we are very proud to be the primary on this car for it's premier.
In addition, make sure to watch the LifeLock 400 at Michigan International Speedway on June 15th. Marathon will be the primary sponsor on both the #45 and #43 Dodge. Not only will we be featured on 2 cars, but our cars will be driven by the only two brothers to ever have won Cup Series Championships. That's right! We are very excited to feature the #45 Marathon Dodge, driven by 2-Time Cup Series Champion, Terry Labonte. Terry will drive along side of younger brother, Bobby Labonte, who will be driving the #43 Marathon Dodge, which will feature a reverse Marathon paint scheme. That is, our #45 paint scheme of a blue hood and white rear, will be reversed for the #43 car. Bobby Labonte will be driving a new paint scheme that will have the traditional Marathon American Spirit Motor Oil logo on a white hood with a blue rear. Bobby will also be looking sharp in a white Marathon Racing suit. We hope to have this white racing suit autographed by both Bobby and Terry to be framed and displayed along side of our blue Marathon Racing suit autographed by Kyle Petty and his Father, the King, Richard Petty. This suit is currently featured on the 5th floor of the Donnell Building, near Mary Ellen's office.
And that's not all! Marathon will be featuring another new paint scheme at this year's Chicagoland race on July 12th. The #45 Marathon Dodge will be driven by Chad McCumbee while Kyle Petty announces from the booth. The car will be featured in a Petty Blue to highlight the 50th Anniversary of Richard Petty's first race! July 12th, 2008 marks 50 years, to the day, of the first time Richard Petty drove in a NASCAR sanctioned event. The whole weekend will be packed with media and events to commemorate the Legend himself, and we'll be right there for the ride. With Kyle announcing the race and our logo on the hood, we could not be more excited to be included in such a piece of history.
Let's go racing!
