Dilute Naphthalene Oil (DNO) is a naphthalene rich stream, with typical naphthalene content between 50 and 75%. The principle application for naphthalene is the production of phthalic anhydride, which is then used to make plasticizers, unsaturated polyester resins and alkyd resins. Naphthalene is also used to make naphthalene sulfonates and carbamate insecticides. DNO is also an economical source of BTU value.

Marathon Petroleum Company LLC (MPC) produces DNO at the Catlettsburg, Kentucky refinery.

Transportation
DNO is transported from the Catlettsburg, Kentucky refinery both by truck.
