C. Michael Palmer

Mr. Palmer is executive vice president of Marathon Petroleum Corporation.
Mr. Palmer began his career with Marathon in 1976, as a financial analyst in the Treasury organization. In 1981, he joined the European Supply and Marine Transportation organization in London, as a crude oil trader, the first of many petroleum supply related positions in the company. He has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility, including manager of Light Product and Feedstock Acquisition in 1984, manager of Crude Oil Scheduling in 1988, manager of Crude Oil Lease Purchases and Sales in 1992, manager of Crude Oil Trading and Risk Management in 1993, and manager of Business Development for Marathon Ashland Petroleum1 in 1999. In 2007, following Marathon Oil’s acquisition of Western Oil Sands Inc., Mr. Palmer was named senior vice president, Oil Sands Operations and Commercial Activities for Marathon Oil Canada Corporation. In 2010, he was appointed director of Crude, Supply and Logistics for Marathon Petroleum Company LLC2, and then named vice president, Crude, Supply and Logistics, also in 2010. In 2011, he was named senior vice president of Supply, Distribution and Planning, a position he held until October 2018, when he assumed his current position.
Mr. Palmer graduated with highest distinction from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance. He attended the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business Program for Strategic Thinking and Managing for Competitive Advantage in 2001 and the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies in 2010.
